Not a lot of attractions can say that, but with six organizations under one roof, it’s a pretty sure thing. History. Culture. Art. Education. Ojibwe Heritage. Theater. Immigrant Experiences. Veteran Memorials. Oh, and did we mention TRAINS? We have special Group Rates and love to give Guided Group Tours with advance planning. Whether you want to bring a school group or scout troop, or would like to add us to an itinerary for an adult day trip… we’ll make sure your visit to the Duluth Depot leaves everyone with magical memories!
Take a Tour
Guided general tours take place every Thursday at 1:30pm and 2:30pm. These tours offer an overview of the building, it’s history and exhibit highlights. Tours begin in the Great Hall and are offered for free with the suggested donation of $5 per attendee. These tours are offered with the assistance of our youth volunteers through St. Louis County 4-H and their Incredible Exchange program. There’s no need to book in advance! Simply be in the Great Hall at the tour time and come experience the Depot.
Longer specialty tours take place on Friday at 10:30am at the cost of $10 per person. Specialty tours can also be booked in advance other days and times by contacting our Tour Manger, Hailey Eidenschink via email or give her a call: (218) 733-7566.
Tours can also be offered virtually, get in touch to learn more!
The Depot is a perfect place for school trips (even virtual school trips). With several history museums and an art museum all in one location, there are exhibits and content here to supplement nearly anything you’re studying in the classroom. All school group visits come with a Guided Group Tour and age-appropriate activities for the kids to engage in while exploring our Lake Superior Railroad Museum.
If you’re looking to round out your school visit, consider taking in a performance of the Duluth Playhouse’s Family Theatre or perhaps a ride on the North Shore Scenic Railroad. Also within walking distance of the Depot is the Duluth Public Library, which is located just across the street, and the Great Lakes Aquarium and Playfront Park, both just a seven minute walk across the bridge.
